Superb Oak carved 18th century Long case Clock
By Samuel Quarman of Temple Cloud.
The condition is good for age and the movement has recently been overhauled so is in good working order. The movement runs for 8 days and chimes on a bell on the hour.
The case is made of Oak and is carved with figures etc:. The carvings have a Colonial feel. This might be that Temple Cloud is just down the road from Bristol which was a busy port in its time.
The case hood did have a caddy top which has been removed at some point of its life. This is not uncommon as they did this to fit in a room with lower ceilings. The dial has been cleaned. It has a carved and silvered village scene on it and the makers name and place.
This is a very unusual carved clock which is very impressive and stands out from the crowd.
