I have a lovely pair of ebonised bookends for sale.
Date to the Victorian period.
They have the look of carved Bog Wood or Bog Oak but could not be certain.
Each end depicts a church yard scene.
The Harp of Ireland is carved in to the central body.
Floral decoration is carved around the exterior,
The whole thing is Victorian.
However, there is a chance that the two ends date to an earlier period.
This has been confirmed by a Leading Auction House.
The condition is good given the considerable age.
There are a couple of small losses to the church scenes,
( Please see the photos - they form part of the description. )
The main body measures 40cms with the ends extending a little further.
Please ask any questions you may have - I am not an expert but will do my best to answer.
Thanks for looking.
