Architectural Brass Skeleton Clock
This 8 day fusee brass movement by William Smith of Musselburgh is not a modern copy. It is skilfully pierced and finished and is supported by six brass pillars fixed to a turned marble base.
The 8 day movement is driven by a helical mainspring. The five inch enameled chapter ring bears the name 'Wm Smith Musselburgh (Scotland) Maker & Inventor'.
A slender glass dome covers the movement, sitting on the stepped base, the veined marble showing shades of white, pink, grey and black. There are three knurled brass feet supporting the base.
The clock has a brass pendulum bob and original winding key.
The clock is in very good condition and is in working order, keeping good time.
Base: Diameter: 24cm;
Dome: Diameter: 20cm;
Height of clock with dome: 60cm
Height of clock without Dome: 54cm
Please see the photos of this impressive clock and dome.
Because of the antique glass dome - and the weight of the base, this clock needs to be collected - which also enables the buyer to see it working. However, for the cost of fuel I am prepared to deliver to a reasonable distance or arrange to meet at mid-point. Cash on collection accepted.
