~ Field Marshall 1892 Presentation Black Marble, Two Train Mantle Clock ~
A lovely presentation black slate, two train mantle clock.
The clock is inscribed to the front ‘Presented To Field Marshall Sir Rupert Carruthers Fitzwilliam K.G., On Completeion Of 40 Years Distinguished Service To Queen And Country, Holyrood Palace 11th September 1892’.
The clock has a gilt dial with Arabic numerals and gilt hands.
The dial reads ‘Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh’.
To the centre of the dial is a circular gilt brass panel depicting a winged god with scythe in relief.
The dial is covered by a brass edged, hinged and glazed window.
Above the dial is another gilt brass panel in relief. The panel is semi circular and depicts three small children in a woodland surrounding.
To either side of the dial are brass columns.
The reverse has a door for access to the movement.
The door has pierced decoration and is covered to the inside with textured material.
~ Dimesions ~
The dial has a diameter of 5 ¼ inches (13.5cm).
The clock measures 12 ½ inches (32cm) by 13 inches (33cm) with a depth of 5 ½ inches (14cm).
It weighs 14.73 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The clock has a few minor scratches and a couple of chips but is in otherwise good condition. The dial is in lovely condition.
The clock may need a servicing.
