LARGE VINTAGE KIENINGER DOUBLE WEIGHT CHIMING WALL CLOCK
Please make use of the enlarge feature to appreciate the quality that this wonderful double weight wall clock offers. The pictures do not do it the full justice it deserves.
For anyone that does not know the name Kieninger, please just Google it to see the high esteem that this clockmaker is held in. 100 years of clock making history.
Here is a large "Vienna" inspired, double weight wall clock clothed in what looks like wonderful Cherry wood veneer. It measures 117 cm in length, 37 cm wide and 20 cm deep, so a very impressive piece.
Behind the pure white enamel dial, with its subsidiary seconds dial, beats the quality Kieninger weight driven movement, striking the half and full hours on a single coiled gong. The golden colour of the large brass weights and gridiron pendulum stand out nicely against the darker backdrop of the case. On a brass plaque to the glazed door are the words "Time, the most precious gift". The clock is in full working order, with a slow, rhythmic tick, and chiming beautifully.....complete with its original key.
The serial numbers on the movement, if I'm reading them right, would date this clock to 1981, so some 30+ years old. That said, it is in lovely condition. It has a small chip to the bottom left corner which is hardly noticeable, and the weights have the odd scratch to the lacquered finish.
Due to size and fragility, this has to be collection only, where the clock can be viewed in all its glory, working. If you are not near to DN19, the clock is well worth the effort of a trip out into the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.
Quality, impressive and by a renowned maker.....a fine combination.
