Large Antique Georgian Period Mahogany Glazed Bookcase On Chest Original
This is a lovely early 18th century glazed bookcase on chest of 2 over 3 drawers. This is very good quality the front and top of the base is made of solid mahogany and the sides and back are solid pine. All the handles look to be completely original and of the age. The glass looks to be mainly original and in good order. The original key to the glazed top is still present and working. The original 3 shelfs that slide in little grooves so are completely adjustable in height. All drawers apart from the one photographed have hand cut dovetail joints. The top lifts off the base for transport.
This is a period piece and will have th wear to show it. As expected with a piece of its age there is wear knocks some light age cracks etc., of which I will try to mention however when dealing with an item of this value I would advise viewing or at least calling before you purchase (01763256722).
There are some dents and knocks to the plinth drawer fronts and the edge of the top. There is some beading missing from the drawers in places. There is some slight age cracks down the sides. The box decoration around the cornice has some loss including some of the decoration. One of the small drawers sides has been replaced at some stage but it is strong. All the handles seem to be present and original. All drawers seem to run well.
