This is a nice golden oak cased longcase clock made by Lincolnshire clockmaker Broderick of Boston. The Brodericks were a family of clockmakers working in Spalding, Boston, Holbech and Kirton. They are well documented in various clock books and also on the Brian Loomes web site. This clock was most likely made by Jesse or John Broderick c1812. The dial has been restored to a high standard with lots of fine detail, the hands are nicely blued, the movement has been cleaned and gut lines replaced. The clock has correct matching weights and a brass bobbed pendulum. The bell has good resonance and the strike works as it should. The case has good patina with lots of detail to the hood. There is a similar cased Broderick clock with dentil moulding illustrated in A.S.H Wilbourn and
R. Ellis book on Lincolnshire clockmakers.
Clock height - 86": Max width at hood - 18" : Width at base - 17.5"
Clock comes with winding key. Both hood and trunk doors have keys and working locks.
