- Style: Victorian
- Age: 1800-1899
- Material: Beech
A mid-Victorian music stool in ebonised wood which I think is beech judging by the interior which is finely polished. The seat cover has been replaced a long time ago, the original buttoned underside can be seen inside the lid, I don't know what's under the replacement cover. Gilded detail along the front, back and side panels in incised rectangles, nicely turned legs. Two of the feet have slight damage. There is a split in the base visible in the photographs. A good genuine piece in need of some tlc. Seat is approx 19" wide, 15" deep, and the height is 17". The height is not adjustable. Originally it would have had casters on the feet, the holes are there but no casters.

I have been collecting, buying and selling antiques for over 40 years and was a full-time dealer in the 1980s. Most of what I am now selling is from my extensive personal collection including a specialised ceramics reference collection. The original Way's Antiques was at 69 Park Street Bristol (now Goldbrick House) around 1900 and moved in the next generation with R.P. Way lower down Park Street. R.P. Way, was my great-uncle and wrote an autobiography 'The Antique Dealer' published by Michael Joseph.
